Albany, NY – November 13, 2006 – Colonie Center emerged this year with a new look, and now a new tradition, the 1st annual TREE LIGHTING Celebration. Saturday, November 18th will begin a new era launching the traditional Christmas tree lighting and the official holiday arrival of Santa, as well as the grand openings of the Turner Construction Playland and the Colonie Center Family Room.
The Holiday weekend of festivities included
· 12:30PM Center Court
o Tree Lighting Ceremony –Mary Brizzell, Colonie Town Supervisor and Santa will dazzle Colonie Center with the opulent Tree Lighting celebration. The spirit of the holiday will come alive with a live performance by the River Valley Chorus, Sweet Adelines.
o Santa’s Arrival and escort to his Woodland retreat by the Cohoes High School Dance Ensemble
o Live performances by the Blessed Sacrament School will delight the crowd with their harmonious caroling and welcome Santa to his retreat for the season
· 1:45PM Ribbon Cutting
o Turner Construction Playland and Colonie Center Family Room will open to the public
Colonie Center’s holiday tree is the largest and most unique tree in the malls history. This 26-foot tree will have over 12,000 lights and will illuminate Center Court, making this season the most festive of any mall throughout the Capital District. Marketing Director for Colonie Center, Linda Dockal states, “Colonie Center will get you in the Christmas spirit like no other mall.
