Hi Rich,

Thank you for the great site.I have 2 questions.I read where we can purchase game footage that Fox has for 30 dollars.My question is in what format will they be dubbed/shipped?

My second question is can you explain what happened to the Watervliet/Fonda football game

clip that Fox23 aired early Sunday morning October 18th.The game was from the 17th of October.I stayed up to catch it after the extra inning Yankees game,& Fox in fact had Fonda & Vliet,but when I checked this morning (10-18) on the site I cannot locate it.

Thanks for any help.Is this game available for purchase? Thanks,Walt

Welcome back.. the 2007 season is almost ready to take off.. and so are we. We are well into the planning stages for another season of the FOX23 High School sports show, the original and only complete high school show in the Capital Region.

We'll be covering all the fall sports again this season with an emphasis on football and boys and girls soccer. But those aren't the only sports we cover. As you've seen in past years, we get to all the sports including field hockey, cross country, golf, tennis, swimming and volleyball.

As always, we're asking for your help. If you know of a story involving a Section II athlete, coach, official, fan, team.. well, Section II anything, we want to know. Please, post here at the forum or drop us an e-mail at sports@fox23news.com.

We'll also be adding a new wrinkle this year with our FOX BOX on-line poll question. We'll be asking you to pick our high school football "Game of the Week". Each week, we'll post a list of possibilities and ask you to vote for the one you think in the best matchup. Not only will we make that game the headliner, we will also post on our web site, soon after the game, all the footage we shot from that game, not just the highlights we showed during the show. Just a little added incentive for you to log on and make your schools game the headliner.

We'll also be continuing our "Team of the Week" feature as well as giving you medical advice from our trainer, Rick Knizek. ...and of course, we'll be bringing back the highly popular "Rockin' Rewind" plays of the week.

Bottom line, if you aren't watching, we don't have a show. So get involved! Let us know what you like and what you don't like. We'll make adjustments as we go.

Thanks to all the coaches, AD's, parents and student athletes who help us make the FOX23 Times Union high school sports show the areas most comprehensive prep show. We could not do any of it with out your input.

Here's wishing you a very happy and safe holiday season and a victorious new year. We will be presenting our fall year end awards show Saturday December 22 at 10:30, Friday December 28th at 11pm and Sunday December 29th at 10:30pm.

Regular coverage of Section II sports continues throughout the week on FOX23 News at 5 and 10 with the high school show returning to game coverage on January 4th.

What do "you" want to see on our web site?

Hi Guys... thanks for stopping by the forum. Here's a question for you...when you come to fox23news.com/sports, what do you want to see? Many of you check out the scoreboard section. We try to get scores up as fast as we can and also link you to our partners, the Times Union, for a more extensive look at each game. We also provide video of every single game we shoot and, starting next week, all the raw footage from "The Big Game" of your choosing (vote for that game in our FOX BOX question). What else do you want to see? More text stories to go with the video we post, more schedules, more what? Let us know either by posting here or by sending an e-mail to sports@fox23news.com. We want to make this site what you want, so, please, help us out.

The "Other" Sports

Hey folks,

This is the other goofy looking guy on the high school sports show. One of the major complaints in high school sports is that the sports outside of football and soccer don't get a lot of coverage. At FOX23, we try to touch on them all. You can do that online as well. Where are the swimming, volleyball, field hockey, cross country and tennis folks??? It's championship time for them too.

The journey on the road to the Carrier Dome is nearly done for the Lansingburgh Football team. The trip to Glens Falls/Hudson Valley is just beginning for high school basketball teams around the area.

So what do you think? Which teams are the teams to beat? Potential player of the year candidates? This is the place to talk about it. Let us know what you're thinking.

Mechanicville

Once again the small school had gotten left out, what a shame, if only mechanicvilles girls varsity should have gotten the RESPECT, they needed, but of course did not, all I mean all those girls on that team worked together and had a major roll in there winning soccer season. If you were only at that hoosick falls vs mechanicville game that should had been the class cc championship game. My hats off to the goalie in mechanicville she held it down well, many shots on goal were amazing, whoever she was amazing. Just a great game all around. HATS OFF TO THE MECHANICVILLE GIRLS SOCCER TEAM, WAY TO GO.

Burnt Hills vs. Lansingburg

I would love to know what people think about the game that will take place on Saturday where Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake takes on Lansingburg. Who do you think will win? Why?

Personally, I think that Burnt Hills is going to take it. Yes, they have beaten Lansingburg the last two times they have played them and many think that Lansingburg will come back and win, but what about the success that the Spartans have had? Paul Layton is throwing and kicking the ball great, Nick Henderson is running hard, Alex Palcovic is sacking the QB at least once every game, Tyler Paluba has 5 interceptions on the season (he's tied for first), and Derek Seward is receiving and running the ball great.

And yes, Lansingburg has a great team too. They don't have strong kicking but they're smart. And it does help having Nyquan McGirt and Kenny Youngs running the ball. They're great player but I feel that overall they don't have the depth that Burnt Hills does.

So what do you think???

cobleskill needs more coverage

The Cobleskill-Richmondville sports teams have been put in a league that makes them treated like outsiders. NEVER have we gone to an away game, whether its football, soccer, basketball, baseball, etc., that we haven't been treated like we don't belong.

The football team this year is UNDEFEATED, but yet the coverage continues with the bigger schools. Give us a fair shake once in awhile. COme and cover our games more often, you may be surprised at how well the "hicks" in this part of the state can do.

hey i think the Schuylerville football team deserves to be the team of the week..because they've worked so hard this season and have turned out to be great! they're a young team and deserve to be recognized. they're not only a team on the field, but also off the field as well..they're like brothers to each other and i think thats awesome. they're hands down a great group of guys who love the sport of football..

Two great teams one great city, these kids grew up and played football for years together now they face of as #17 and #19 in NYS Football rankings and for 1st place in their AA division. These kids have worked extremely hard lets give them some great coverage.

Hello, I think that the Bishop Maginn v.s. glenns falls should be the game of the week because its Bishop Maginn's homecoming and it's a class A game against two very good teams that people want to watch and are excited to see. Also because Bishop Maginn's crowd adn fans are going to go crazy and all together the game is going to be something to see.So please look into this and realize how good a game it will be and realize that it should be the High School Sports Show game of the week.Thank You!

Week One Quick Thoughts

Brent Steuerwald told Brent Martineau at media day, the last time Shen had a poor season, they bounced back with a very good one. Sure looked good last night against CBA. Not sure about CBA. They lost a lot, so the quality of Shen's win is still in question, but, aside from some penalties, the Green Machine was rolling.

Colonie also looked good. Credit Columbia's defense.. they made some good stops, slowing the Raiders run game early, but I think they just wore down toward the end of the 2nd quarter. Poleto busted off a few good runs, and a 21-0 margin was too much to overcome.

Lansingburgh is at it again.. Youngs with 200 plus, Hepp with 3 scores. First question Pete Porecelli asked me tonight when he called in the score(he's one of the best at getting his games called in quickly) was how did Amsterdam and Maginn turn out.

Zach Kraham with 5 TD's for Chatham. Had a viewer call to ask if we know about the Chrysler kid for the Panthers. Big lineman, getting some college looks. Didn't see him last night. Hopefully next week.

Guilderland's Andrew Smith looked like the real deal last night.. quick on the punt return.. I'l look forward to seeing him in person hopefully next week.

Soccer.. nice win for Duane Wood and Mohon in the first game of their girls tourney in Rotterdam. Duane coaches my daughters team and is one of the genuinely good guys in the area.. even handed with the girls. They like to play for him. Mohon won 4-0, with 4 different scorers. Nice start. We'll know more when they match up with the likes of Shen, Nisky and Burnt Hills.(Spartans win their opener against Schalmont)
