Schenectady Police Department: the real criminals

    Dear Readers:

Due to a horrible event that took place Thanksgiving Eve in Schenectady, New York, I feel it is neccesary to tell as many as possible of the cruelty and crookedness of the actions taken by the Schenectady Police.  I am a 23 yr. old Schenectady residence.  I respect the efforts the town of Schenectady has made in downtown Schenectady but I no longer feel safe there.  As we all know, the Police have "suffered" a bit of public embarassment due to their recent drug misplacings.  This fact would make one think that these figures of authority would make efforts to stay out of the crimialesque limelight for a while.  But three nights ago, Schenectadys finest took it upon themselves to take out their aggresion on a single innoscent sole.  According to many witnesses,  a Police vehicle drove down Union Street late Wednesday night and was provoked by a pedestrian whom yelled at their car.  My mother taught me, "Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me." I guess the Schenectady Police have not yet learned this.  These few drunken words from a young kid were so devias that it forced the cop to pull over.  My friend, (we'll call him John) watched the name calling boy run away as the cop continued to walk in his direction.  In the "Policeman's"  fury he must've not noticed the boy run and instead decided to take his anger out on John. After a brief argument with John, this particular officer punched and knocked John to the ground. Im not saying it was a beating but it was enough brute force to make me concerned with our cities tactics in dealing with name calling. More importantly John had been beaten up and released. Im no lawyer but I know its not  legal for an officer to beat someone up and then release them . John then had the pleasure of wearing bruises on his face for the day of Thanksgiving, thanks to the love and respect of the Schenectady Police Department.

    Happy Thanksgiving

    From a concerned citizen.
