You know it's funny....
Trucking Companies advertise on television, radio, paper ads, and internet services constantly about shortage of drivers. People apply and get rejected because of a felony record. Most are not violent ones, people trying to start their lives over, doing honest work. Im such a person; I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, got convicted by association, though i did not know knowingly i was commiting a crime, though i was working for a legit company and the boss was crooked. I got the minimum sentence of 2 years in Texas. I've always dreamed of being a Trucker. I can no longer pursue it because of trucking companies being biased against me, though such companies i research accept felons. Im tired of applying to the companies that accept felons then get rejection letters or phone calls saying im rejected because of my background. I mean i've never been in trouble in my life; I have no dui's, tickets, moving violations, nothing....The only time ive been pulled over is because my car fit the description of a vehicle of someone selling drugs to kids....but how many people own black honda's in Tulsa....I know 3 people in my neighborhood that have the same year, type, and color of my honda.
But I wander off the beaten path. I'm tired of companies saying they are in desperate need of drivers, willing to train people w/o a cdl.....blah blah blah....and say they accept felons as long as its not a violent offense. I fit just about all of the companies criteria, except having 1 little felony....then I get told to F*** off in a sense. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT FELONS, DON'T SAY THAT YOU'LL HIRE FELONS....SIMPLE AS THAT AND QUIT WASTING MY F***ING TIME....I'M A GUY TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, SO GIVE ME A FREAKING CHANCE TO SHOW YOU WHAT I CAN ACCOMPLISH, DONT KICK ME DOWN TO THE GROUND AND SPIT ON ME BECAUSE IM A FELON......WOULDNT YOU WANT THE SAME TREATMENT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE A FELON...TRADE SHOES WITH ME AND SEE WHAT ITS LIKE!!!
Im sorry about the ranting but its how I feel and im pretty sure there are many others out there who share the same sentiments. I'll leave it as that
