1^st Annual Benefit Walk for Children’s Mental Health.  The Benefit Walk for Children’s Mental Health will begin at 4pm on May 9, 2008 at the Crossings in Colonie, NY.  Our Walk will take place the day after National Mental Health Awareness Day (May 8^th).  This Walk will benefit children and youth in Albany County who participate in Families Together in Albany County’s Youth Empowerment Project.  The Youth Empowerment Project helps youth (14-21) with social, emotional or behavioral concerns through social and recreational programs and peer to peer counseling and supports.

Walk for Children’s Mental Health is organized by the Children’s Mental Health System of Care in Albany County (including Families Together in Albany County, Parsons Child and Family Center, Albany County Early Intervention, Albany County Youth Bureau and Albany County Probation) – dedicated to improving coordination of, access to, and effectiveness of services for Albany County’s children and youth.  Benefit Walk for Children’s Mental Health will help raise awareness of effective programs for children's mental health needs, demonstrates how children's mental health initiatives promote positive youth development, recovery and resilience, and shows how children with mental health needs thrive in their communities.
