71 minutes to go until game time here in Bridgeport. After reading all the requsite material, I'm surfing the web. 9pm starts are killers especially when the day starts at 7:30am.
This is what Fran McCaffery thought his team would be at the beginning of the season. I know, he gets paid to tell us these things. But to his credit, he's made it happen. He's taken a team full of freshman and turned them into champions. Edwin Ubiles has future MAAC player of the year written all over him. Have you see a freshman point guard as cool as Ronald Moore. Alex Franklin and Corey Magee have show flashes of brilliance. Someone gets credit for the development of these players.
That's the coach.
Regardless of mistakes or misplays, he's stayed with them. Because of that, their confidence has grown to the point where they really no longer play like freshman.
Add that to the established senior leadership of Haddix and Ryan, the upper classman like play of Kenny Hasbrouck(what a recruting steal), plus the exuberance of a Tay Fisher, and you've got a team that now believes in themselves
Of course, the coach has believed in them all the way.
No matter what happens tonight, no 68 minutes from the tip, the Saints have set themselves up to be in the position again...soon.
