Where was Mr. Wilson????

We love Will Brown and we love Jamar Wilson, but what took place on Saturday after UAlbany lost to Vermont was a joke (hope I don't get suspended for that a la Coach Brown).

First of all, congratulations to Jamar on becoming the school's all time scoring leader, but  shame on UAlbany for not allowing Wilson to talk to the media after the game about the record.  I understand this is a team game and the focus should not be on an individual, but this achievement is about how far the program has come in the last five years.  Its about a player and an ambassador for the school whose jersey will someday hang in the rafters. One loss, albeit a frustrating one, doesn't change that.  I have to wonder if Wilson would have been allowed to speak if the Danes got an historic win in Patrick Gymnasium.

This record stood for almost 50 years and the Danes hardly acknowledging it on the day it happened is a sign of disrespect to Jamar, the program's history and the previous record holder Gary Holway.  If it was Wilson's idea not to make mention of the mark then somebody should have advised him otherwise.

Obviously three newspapers reporters travelling to Burlington and at least one television station meeting the bus back at school is proof the media thinks this was a big day in UAlbany basketball history, its too bad the school didn't feel the same way.

In fairness, Wilson was made available to FOX23 for a pregame story about approaching the record on Thursday night.(go to www.fox23news.com, click on video on demand for link).
